ABOUT

Our Story

The Social Tee was created to give women a place to enjoy golf in a way that feels fun, approachable, and social. Whether you’ve been playing for years or you’re just picking up a club for the first time, our community is designed to meet you where you are. With instruction from some of the best golf pros in the state, we make it easy to learn the game and feel confident stepping onto the course—whether that’s with a group of girlfriends or when you’re tagging along with the guys. Beyond the instruction, The Social Tee is about building connections, sharing laughs, and creating a space where golf feels less intimidating and more like the social sport it’s meant to be.

Meet Peyton

Co-Founder

I first picked up a golf club in 7th grade, made my high school team that same year, and quickly worked my way into the top spots on the team — making all-Region team and even scoring two hole-in-ones before I could legally have a drink!

After playing competitively through high school, I swapped tournaments for tailgates at Clemson University (Go Tigers!) and graduated in 2020. Fast-forward to COVID, when golf was one of the only things to do, I fell back in love with the game—and kept hearing from women who wanted to try but felt too intimidated.

That’s why I started The Social Tee: a no-pressure, all-fun space where women of any skill level can grab a club, laugh a little, and maybe even surprise themselves. These days, when I’m not on the course, I’m in my 5th year selling homes in Upstate SC with my dad, who’s been in the biz for almost 40 years. I’d love to help serve you on & off the course!

Meet Tommy

Co-Founder

Born and raised in Spartanburg, SC – Tommy’s been swinging a golf club since age five and hasn’t stopped since. He racked up wins as a junior golfer, including the South Carolina Amateur Championship as a teenager, then played on a full scholarship at Clemson before turning pro.

His career took him from the Korn Ferry Tour to the PGA Tour, with highlights like competing in the 2012 U.S. Open and winning on multiple professional tours. Off the course, he’s owned golf clubs, started a foundation for underprivileged kids, and even appeared on Golf Channel shows Chasing the Dream and Shotmakers.

Now, Tommy’s focus is on helping others fall in love with the game the same way he did. With The Social Tee, he’s all about making golf relaxed, fun, and welcoming – whether you’re brand new to the sport or already hooked.

Meet Macy

Event Operations & Vendor Relations Coordinator

Hi, I’m Macy! I graduated from Clemson University in 2018 (Go Tigers!) and have been in Greenville ever since. I’ve been surrounded by golf my entire life thanks to my dad, who’s been in the golf industry for over 40 years. Even though I never played seriously growing up (which I completely regret), the game has always been in my world. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve found myself falling more in love with golf—not just for the challenge, but for the fun and connection it brings no matter your age. The best part is.. I’m still learning the game myself and always looking to improve, but what I’ve realized is that golf is so much more fun when you’re out there with a great group of girls who can cheer each other on, laugh through the bad shots, and celebrate the great ones. That’s exactly what The Social Tee is all about—learning, playing, and growing together, one swing at a time.

One day, Peyton and I were chitchatting over a glass of wine when she came to me with the idea of starting a girls golf club. We realized how needed it was in our area, and just like that, The Social Tee Girls Golf Club was born. Our mission is simple: to create a space where women can learn the game with zero pressure, plenty of laughs, and a warm, social atmosphere. We can’t wait to sip, swing, and socialize with y’all!

Meet JD

Strategy & Growth

John-David (JD) McKee has been a passionate golfer since childhood, when his grandfather – an accomplished player – put a club in his hands as soon as he could walk. Some of his fondest memories are on the course with family, from early rounds with his grandfather to playing the Old Course at St Andrews with his brother – moments that deepened his love for the game and its history.

A Clemson graduate like his fellow founders, JD earned a four-year scholarship from the South Carolina Junior Golf Association for his play and character in high school. Beyond golf, he has built and advised businesses as an entrepreneur and strategist, and has taught business and marketing as a college professor. At The Social Tee, JD combines his lifelong love of the game with his experience in planning and advisory – helping create a community that makes golf fun, social, and welcoming.
